Frequently Asked Questions KEAM (Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical)

What is this site?

This is an unofficial reference for KEAM last ranks in Kerala, compiled from the official last-rank publications of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala on cee.kerala.gov.in. We are not affiliated with CEE. Use this site to research trends and always verify against CEE's own last-rank pages and notifications.

How do I read a KEAM last rank?

The last rank is the KEAM rank of the final candidate allotted a seat in that college, course and category in a given allotment phase. A smaller rank is better, so if your rank is numerically within the last rank, a candidate at your level secured that seat that year. CEE publishes ranks only, so there are no marks-based cutoffs here.

What do the category codes like SM, EZ, MU mean?

SM is State Merit, the open merit list everyone competes in. The reservation codes are: EZ (Ezhava), MU (Muslim), BH (Other Backward Hindu), LA (Latin Catholic and Anglo-Indian), DV (Dheevara and related), VK (Viswakarma and related), KN (Kudumbi), BX (Other Backward Christian), and KU (Kusavan and related). SC is Scheduled Caste, ST is Scheduled Tribe, and EW is Economically Weaker Section. Your certificate determines which single reservation column applies to you, and everyone is considered under SM first.

Why does SM sometimes have a tighter last rank than my category?

Because allotment first fills open State Merit seats by rank, then reservation seats. A category column like EZ shows the last rank among candidates who used an Ezhava reservation seat, which is normally more relaxed than SM. If your rank beats the SM last rank, you take the seat on pure merit without touching your community quota.

What streams does the data cover?

Each cutoff row is tagged with its stream: Engineering (ENGG), Architecture (ARCH), Pharmacy (PHARM), Medical & Allied (MEDICAL_ALLIED, such as BAMS, BHMS, agriculture and veterinary courses), and MBBS/BDS. A small OTHER bucket holds courses we could not classify from the branch text alone. Remember MBBS/BDS allotment is NEET-based even though CEE runs the counselling and publishes last ranks.

What are the allotment phases, and do last ranks move?

CEE allots seats in numbered phases (Phase 1, Phase 2, and so on; engineering ran up to five phases in 2022 and two in 2025). Last ranks generally relax in later phases as candidates upgrade or leave for other options, though top courses at colleges like CET Trivandrum move very little. Our year-level figure is the highest phase published per stream, and phase-wise data is kept separately.

Which years does this site cover? Be honest.

Right now, only 2022 and 2025. That is a real limitation and we want to be upfront about it: CEE has delisted several older last-rank pages, and the archived copies we located for other years were unusable (see the next question). Two years still show useful level-setting and phase behaviour, but they cannot support strong multi-year trend claims.

Why are 2023, 2024 and other years missing?

Different reasons per year: 2023 and 2024 were delisted from cee.kerala.gov.in and no usable web archive exists; the 2017, 2019 and 2021 archived captures we found are corrupt; and the 2015-2016 archived PDFs are scanned images with no extractable text. We plan to revisit these via mirrors or manual capture, and will bump the dataset version if we recover them.

Can I still use two years of data to plan my options?

Yes, carefully. 2025 is recent and shows the current level for each college-course-category, and comparing 2022 with 2025 gives a rough sense of direction (for example the CSE tightening). But do not extrapolate a precise cutoff for the coming year from two points; keep a wide margin and a long option list.

A category column is blank for a college. What does that mean?

It means no seat was allotted in that category at that college in that phase, often because the college has no seat in that category (many self-financing colleges have limited reservation seats) or the seat went unfilled or converted. You may still get the college via the SM column if your rank qualifies.

Are private/self-financing colleges and management quota covered?

Government, aided and the self-financing colleges that fill seats through CEE's centralised allotment appear in the last-rank files, and we carry whatever CEE published. Management and NRI quota seats filled directly by colleges are not part of CEE's last ranks and are not on this site.

Does KEAM rank alone decide engineering admission?

The KEAM engineering rank is computed by CEE from your entrance score and Plus Two marks per that year's prospectus formula, and allotment then goes strictly by that rank, category and your option priority. This site only tells you where past ranks landed; read the current CEE prospectus for the rank formula and eligibility rules in force this year.

How should I verify a last rank before finalising options?

Check the official last-rank search for that year on cee.kerala.gov.in (keam<year>/last_rank) for the same college, course, category and phase. CEE re-publishes pages and occasionally corrects data, and with our thin two-year coverage you should lean on CEE's live pages during the counselling season. This site is unofficial; CEE is the sole authority for KEAM allotments.
